Production Workshop

Back in Ambon

Just a week after I returned to Ambon we began a two-week workshop with the oral Bible storying facilitators from the Buru and Wemale languages. We're in the last couple of days now and I'm ready for a rest but thankful for the progress we've made as both languages have completed several stories, for both the first exploratory stage. These stories aren't ready to use but they learned enough about making stories that the stories can now wait until what we call the "process check" when I will watch them craft an entire story to make sure they are getting all the steps right.

Teaching participants about the location of Abraham's travels in preparation for crafting a story about Abraham.
Plan C. First the projector was acting up but we got round that one by stealing a projector from another room. But then the electricity went off and I had to turn my computer around so everyone could see the screen. Having a big 17 inch screen that I have to lug around paid off that day!

Time line showing the major events between Abraham and the next story, Elijah's confrontation with the prophets of Baal.

Returning to Indonesia

I'm thankful that while riding my bike yesterday it occurred to me that it couldn't be that I was leaving Miami on Friday morning, Jan 31 and arriving in Jakarta on Saturday morning, Feb 1. There's a 12 hour time difference and it takes 12-13 hours to fly just from Atlanta to Tokyo. What about the Miami to Atlanta, Tokyo to Singapore, and Singapore to Jakarta legs? When I got home I looked at my ticket and realized that I just lost a day. I leave Thursday morning, Jan 30! And do lose a day crossing the international date line. I'd been focusing too much on arranging hotels on that end and the Jakarta to Ambon flight. But that is a good thing. Those plane and hotels I finally sorted out a couple of days ago are on the right dates. I just have a day less to pack, sell my car, sell my bike, etc.

Perhaps my stress level is just a bit too high with the preparations yet also still trying to find churches to visit and share about my ministry as I still need to find others to partner with me in reaching the Bibleless peoples of Maluku, Indonesia. I was glad to have churches to share in the last two Sundays. One more to go and still looking for a church to share in.
